Most Dangerous Universities In Nigeria

In Nigerian universities, cultism poses a significant challenge as it entails the presence of covert societies or factions among students in tertiary institutions. These groups are notorious for engaging in violent acts including murder, assault, theft, and extortion.

For numerous decades, cultism has plagued Nigerian universities and is thought to have originated in the 1950s. These groups are typically organized based on ethnic or religious affiliations and are identified under diverse titles such as confraternities, fraternities, or secret cults.

List Of Schools With The Highest Cult Activities In Nigeria

As of writing, the following are the top 5 on our list of most dangerous universities in Nigeria.

  • UNIVERSITY OF BENIN (UNIBEN)

Also known as Uniben, the University of Benin in Edo State is infamous for its high cult activity.

This is the institution of higher learning where the Aye-Axe Men cult was founded. With this cult, non-members must never be seen wearing black and yellow on campus or anywhere else.

  • DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY (DELSU)

Delta State University has sadly been plagued by cults, killings, and shootings. It’s a stark reminder of the challenges faced by today’s youth and the decline in educational standards.

The academic crisis in Nigeria has reached alarming levels, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to boast about the millions of graduates churned out each year from our higher institutions.

Sadly, this isn’t just a problem for Nigeria but also for neighboring countries and the entire African continent.

As concerned citizens, we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to this situation. To help parents make informed decisions, here’s a list of six tertiary institutions in Nigeria and its neighbors that are off-limits to Nigerian students.

  • MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC (MAPOLY)

MAPOLY, located in the vibrant city of Abeokuta, Ogun state, has unfortunately gained a reputation for being a breeding ground for unintelligent students. A certain level of unseriousness seems to be pervasive among many of its students.

From a recent survey, it was discovered that many of her female students get to leave school and head back to trade their bodies in neighboring Lagos state.

Cultism is on the rise at the institution, many fear that the development is getting out of hand.

The standard of teaching and mentoring in the school is low, and because of this drop in standard, many feel it is the reason almost anyone can get admitted at MAPOLY.

  • UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT (UNIPORT)

Located in Rivers State, this is a no-nonsense university with cultism literally on the loose.

You shouldn’t be caught wearing Red and Black because this is the university where the Supreme Vikings Confrataninty was founded.

  • LADOKE AKINTOLA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY(LAUTECH)

LAUTECH has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, and the situation is nothing short of alarming. The incessant strikes have left students stranded at home, unable to pursue their education and achieve their dreams.

The uncertainty surrounding when the admitted students will eventually graduate is a cause for concern. Even more worrying is the fact that when they do eventually graduate, what sort of certificates will they have? How will they be able to defend that which they haven’t learned?

As stakeholders in the education sector, we cannot afford to sit back and watch as our young people’s future is being compromised. We must all work together to find lasting solutions to the challenges facing LAUTECH and other institutions facing similar issues.
